I’ve never been to Japan, but I have a feeling I already love their style, especially if it’s anything Kawaii related.
Well what is Kawaii you ask?
Kawaii is the quality of cuteness in the context of Japanese culture, and is a prominent aspect of Japanese popular culture, entertainment, clothing, foods, toys, personal appearance, behaviour and mannerisms.
The word “kawaii” literally means a “radiant face”, but more commonly referred to the blushing of an embarrassed person, which makes sense why so many of the Kawaii characters have bright pink cheeks and which is also another reason why so many of my creations need CHEEKS before they are ready to be released into the world.
Over time I’ve accumulated a healthy collection of stationary, pencil cases and stickers with this style on it, from the outside I might look like a hoarder of all things cute and adorable, but with the existence of Born To Be Felt I can claim them as inspirational pieces and suddenly I’m creative as oppose to an accumulator.
So I’ve come up with my own Kawaii set of Felt Brooches/Magnets Patterns that I will release for FREE! They’re little and simple to make, so this is a great place to start your sewing adventure if you are a bit apprehensive about buying a more complex pattern as your first DIY project. For the veteran sewers out there these little projects will be a breeze.
