The story of Little Red Riding Hood and her encounter with the Big Bad Wolf is a tale as old as time. Over the years I think I must have forgotten the traditional version where Little Red actually gets eaten by the Wolf along with her Grandmother and waits for the Huntsman to come and rescue them. In my head Little Red helps herself, and does not wait around to be rescued. Yes she made a mistake not listening to her mother and divulged too much information to a stranger, but we all make mistakes right?! However she was smart enough to recognize the wolf was dressed as her grandmother and came up with a cuing plan to outsmart him and escape.
At the end of the day you are free to tell the story anyway you like (these little finger puppets won’t object) but the moral of the story still stands story, teach kids to be weary of strangers and to use their gut feeling about how much information they can divulge to someone they just met. Oh, and also if you rock a red cape go for it and express yourself!
